The above quote can and does apply to many areas of our lives, but in particular how we chose to view ourselves, our health and our lifestyle. Weight loss, maintenance and gain are all about choices. We do not gain 100 pounds based on one decision nor do we shed those same 100 pounds based on one decision. Rather they are both based on many choices we have made over the course of our lifetime.
Does this sound like your day…..You start motivated, eat a great breakfast (oatmeal, some fruit maybe some milk to finish it off)….you head to the office and there in the break room a box of Krispy Kreme donuts, ah what can one donut hurt, I ate a great breakfast…I’ll eat a salad at lunch. Lunch rolls around (in the mean time you have had your mid morning coke or coffee with cream and sugar) it is Joe in the offices birthday and everyone is ordering pizza, well gee it is their birthday, one slice will not make a difference, I can do that salad at dinner, plus work out a bit longer. Mid afternoon the stress level is at it’s max, reports due, boss at your door…NEED THE CANDY MACHINE!!! Just as you are about to walk out the door the phone rings…”can you pick up dinner”…you roll through your favorite burger joint, get some fries for the road (it is late) and head home….collapse in a big chair and sigh!!!!!!!!! Next morning you ask, where did I leave those pants, yeah that is right on the exercise bike handle bars….and you start again, with that bowl of oatmeal and a plan.
Can you relate, I can, that was my day before I changed the way I viewed every choice…now 100 Lbs lighter and still going (no surgery the old fashion way diet and exercise) my life has been changed by CHOICE.
No matter what diet (I prefer to call it a lifestyle change) we are all ultimately faced with life without the “DIET”. OH MY GOD WHAT DO I EAT???? No points, no fat grams, no carbs-fiber=net carbs, no calorie limits. JUST US and our old habits, our old patterns of behavior our old choices.
My goal for myself is to be apart of that 20% and that is what I want to offer to you as a coach.
